The Star Tribune/ Harvard Minnesota
Physicians Survey

In the Tuesday, December 9, 1997 edition of the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper presented the results of a conjoined survey with Harvard University.  988 Minnesota physicians were asked the question:

"In general, do you think increases in patient and doctor participation in managed health care plans such as HMOs in Minnesota have..."

The responses shown at the left are a clear indication that the majority of the physicians surveyed in 1977 believed that managed care led to a decline in quality.  The sampling error margin was no greater than 2.8% percentage points, plus or minus.
